The Body Shop - 25 Days Deluxe Advent Calendar - Giveaway

My first ever experience with an Advent Calendar was back in Year 2 when we made them in "Tech Class". We all got to design our individual doors and then make our individual chocolates - using melted chocolate and plastic moulds! And then Mrs Wastell put it all together for us :) Growing up as a Muslim, Advent Calendars were unheard of in our house, but after this little experience I made sure I got my hands on an Advent Calendar every year. The feeling of having something to open every morning was so exciting; like a little gift from yourself to yourself but unlike everything else you "treat" yourself to, there was always an element of surprise which I loved! Most of the time I was inpatient, and the chocolate had already been eaten within the first 2 weeks :)

Thats why I am an absolute sucker for Beauty Advent Calendars! Chocolates great, but Make Up and Skin Care products are even better! I have a couple of Calendars this year which I was luckily sent by some lovely brands, so keep your eyes peeled as I will be doing posts for all of them - but today I will be taking through the Body Shop 25 Days Deluxe Advent Calendar! It really is a Deluxe Calendar and what I love best is that is is multi functional.

So first up, it serves its original purpose of being an Advent Calendar, and like traditional Calendars it has 25 doors - (some brands have started opting for a 12 days of Christmas approach in the last few years). Each "door" is actually a box, which is great if your impatient like me and wan to have a sneak peak at what might be behind a certain day without letting anyone else know you've opened it :) The box is heavy because of all the products inside, but you can tell that both the outer packaging and the individual products have been made of high quality materials to give it that luxe feel. The green colour theme of the whole Calendar gives Christmassy vibes without feeling outdated.

I won't go through all the products, because like I said I love the element of surprise when it comes to Advent Calendars. If you want to see whats inside then head over to the body shop website here, where you can find a list of the items along with pictures!

The Calendar is prices at  £65.00 which is obviously a lot more than the couple of quid that I was parting with for my original Chocolate Calendars, but the retail value of the products inside is a lot more (I believe its around £115 but not 100% sure on that!) Its a great gift to buy someone special, or to treat yourself - so much time, thought and money goes into gifts for others and it is important to show some self love as well :) Another option, which is something I would highly recommend if you don't celebrate Christmas, is to group up and buy the Calendar together - so either with your team at work, or with your flat mates or your siblings - that way you're getting to share the excitement, getting yourself some cute little gifts and saving a bit of dosh!

I mentioned that this Calendar is multi functional, so once you've emptied all the boxes DONT throw them away! They have a question on one side, and an answer on the other so it doubles up as a game that you can all play together on Christmas Day :)

If all of the above wasn't enough to tempt you, then remember the Body Shop are Cruelty Free and Against Animal Testing - and they were the first brand to actively promote and campaign for this! So now you can enjoy all your goodies guilt free.

I'm also giving away one lucky reader this Advent Calendar - all you need to do is leave your instagram name below and go comment on this picture on my instagram account https://www.instagram.com/sebinaah to tell me you've entered. Winner will be picked and sent Calendar on Monday 11th December :)

Must Have Mustards!

It is the most wonderful time of the year, and as much as I love the spring flowers, or the summer sun or the winter snow (when we get some!) nothing beats Autumn. The colours, the crunch, the chilly weather and hot drinks - and of course Autumn Fashion! Its not as cold as winter, where your whole outfit is just covered up by your coat, but its not as warm as summer either, which means you can layer up - I love being able to play with different fabrics and different colours. And as much as I don't like eating mustard, I just cant get enough of this warm yellow in my Autumn wardrobe. I recently shared a snap of this mustard cardigan from Modanisa on my instastories and it was sold out within 24 hours! It is a gorgeous and warm piece, and I guess the reduced price of £14.81 helped hugely! (Plus another 20% off and free shipping if you used my discount code SEBINA20)

Anyway, its now sold old and no use crying over spilt milk - which I would probably do in my current state because lets be real pregnancy hormones are all over the place! But I thought I would be super helpful and link some more cardigans and sweaters for you all below. Remember you can use my discount code to save money, its not an affiliate code so I don't make anything whether you use it or not, I'm just trying to be helpful :) I get a lot of questions about postage and customs as well - so postage from Modanisa normally takes under or around a week, and legally customs should be charged on anything coming into the UK which is over the value of 30GBP. However my experience with this is very hit and miss, not just with Modanisa but with all international post I receive, I've had items worth over £100 with no customs and items worth £31 with customs (and those horrid admin fees - Fedex seem to be the worst!) but like I said my experience has been so varied when it comes to customs that I really can't guarantee anything.

Some of the items below are on for super cheap as they are final pieces, so get them quick if you like them otherwise they will be gone. If you click on the image it should take you directly to the product and I've tried to add prices below each item to make it easy as possible :)

Sleek - Diamond Decade Collection!

I remember the first time I came across Sleek Make-Up, it was around 5 years ago in a Superdrug store and I could not get enough. I was amazed that I hadn't come across it before and thought it was probably because it was fairly new  (although it was 5 years old at this point!). My local Superdrug and Boots are so small, its no surprise they didn't stock the brand - and this was before I turned to Instagram and Youtube for reviews and info about all things beauty! I remember swatching the eyeshadows and being amazed that they were not chalky and they were so pigmented - and the best bit was the price! As a uni student with very little/no disposable income, it felt heavenly to only have to pay £10 for a palette that had 12 different shades in it. My instant favourites were the matte me liquid lipstick in Birthday Suit, which took me a lifetime to get hold off because it was always out of stock, or the contour kits which normally ranged from £7-10. Sleek as a brand was actually my start to beauty blogging in a way, because it allowed me to replicate and try out looks I saw on my favourite bloggers without having to invest a crazy amount of money into high end products - because lets be real, back then there was no way I had £30-40 for a contour palette!

Fast forward several years, and not only have I had the pleasure of buying and testing a lot of different brands (including the high end ones) but also the luxury of working with so many of these amazing companies! Sleek, will however, always remain one of my favourites. The quality of the products, especially when you consider the price, in my mind beats a few of the high end brands I have tested! They are always releasing new products and staying on top of their game. And if all of that wasn't enough, when I see the likes of fellow hijabi bloggers like Habiba Da Silva being invited on the panel for Sleek events,  or Sabina Hannans videos being featured on their website, it just makes me love them even more - not only do they have amazing products but they clearly value ALL of their customers!

Now onto the actual review, sorry about the slight degression but I haven't tapped out a post in forever and I actually forgot how much I enjoyed this writing malarky :) So this year Sleek celebrated their 10 year anniversary, and as part of the celebration they released their Diamond Decade collection. They were kind enough to send me the limited edition I Divine Diamond Decade eyeshadow palette and the Lip VIP Lipstick in Dream Decade. I've included images and swatches of both below, but am yet to try create any looks with them - but I know I will be pulling them out more than once over the next few months as its party season and the colours are just perfect for that glam party look.

The eyeshadow palette, which retails at £8.99, features 12 different mineral based highly pigmented colours. Working out at less than 74p per shadow, the colours range from blue/purple toned blacks and silvers with 4 pretty pinks to add that party pop. The Lip VIP Lipstick is probably one of the hottest shades of pink I've seen in a while - personally I would probably rock this with a minimal eye look because I think its so bold on its own. But if you check out Sabina Hannan's video here she shows you a super easy way to rock a pink lid with the pink lips - and isn't she just s gorgeous!

I will defo be creating some looks with these gorgeous colours over the next few weeks, so make sure you keep a look out on my Youtube page for these - subscribe here :)

Nyx Lip Lingerie Swatches and Review

So I finally got round to swatching the NYX Lip Lingeries that I received at the NYX store opening a couple of months ago. You can read the post about the store opening here. I have created a whole video swatching the 12 shades, but I also wanted to a little review and pictures so you guys can get a clearer overview of the colours and which ones are the best shades for you :)
One thing I have noticed about the shades is that they look very similar, some even identical, when they are in the packaging, but its only when you actually try them on your lips that you can see what the actual colour is. I have brought some Lip Lingeries in the past but I wasn't too impressed with the texture of them, so that was something that was on my mind when testing these ones out. What I realised, and you can see this in the video, is that when the lip colour is too light for me, the product comes out funny.  I don't know how this works, and whether it has anything to do with the colour of your natural lips, but the light pink shades, like Cheekies and Silk Indulgent, were slightly clumpy and actually quite difficult to apply, but the darker shades especially like Scandalous and After Hours went on so smoothly.

Viktor and Rolf Magic Collection Launch Dinner at Harrods

So a couple of weeks ago I got to go to an amazing Dinner at Galvin Demoiselle at the Conservatory in Harrods for the launch of Viktor and Rolf's new Magic Collection! You may have heard of Viktor and Rolf's Flower Bomb perfume as it is so popular, well their new collection of 6 fragrances does not disappoint! Before I arrived at the event, I didn't know much about the new fragrance but I did not expect it to be a whole collection of perfumes. What makes it so amazing is that each fragrance is different, not to each other but to the perfumes available on the market. They have used an array of different raw and natural materials to create deep and sensual smells that last for ages.

The evening itself was a beautiful 3 course meal set up for a handful of bloggers and was a great opportunity for all of us to discuss our favourite smells - I was torn between Lavender Illusion and Dancing Roses, which was strange as I don't normally like Lavender! The table was decorated in gorgeous flowers and the food was so good that I had eaten it before I remembered to take pictures!

I have left a brief description of the fragrances below the pictures of the evening, and they are available exclusively at Harrods for the next six months and would make amazing Eid presents!

The ravishing queen of perfumery, the rose, is transformed into delectable liquor, thanks to a juicy and fleshy cherry accord.

The authentic signature is created by an absinthe accord at the core combined with sage creating a hot and cold effect.

Liquid Diamonds indulges the skin with an opulent balance of floral bouquet and white musk.

Sensual lavender and refreshing citrus caviar accord, create a wave of sensation both hot and cold.

The rules of classic cologne are disrupted by introducing an effervescent twist

Mischievously composed of key accords iris and ink, Dirty Trick beautifully arrests the senses.

Sleek Make Up Distorted Dreams Launch

So Thursday I got invited to the Sleek Make Up Party for their new Distorted Dreams Highlighter launch - it was held in Tape London near Oxford Circus and there was a massive turn out with loads of my fave bloggers there. I've included some pics of the new products and swatches down below; the highlighting palette is so different to any I have seen before so I'm super excited to try it! It will be launching on 31st May and there are 5 gorgeous shades to choose from! I thought I'd share some pics of the night with you all as there was so much going on and they had gone to so much effort to make it an amazing launch!

Make-Up Haul

So today was a bit of a lazy day, and I decided to unbox a few packages I received over the last couple of weeks. I shared swathes and images over on Insta-Stories and it seemed like such a shame as insta-stories only last 24 hours, so I thought I'll share the images on here too :) I haven't had a chance to thoroughly try any of them, so if you would like full reviews then just let me know :)

Dining in the Sky - Bloggers breakfast at Duck and Waffle

So last week the lovely ladies from Love to Dress treated a handful of bloggers to breakfast at Duck and Waffle. Before I go ahead a do a review of this place for you all, I need to say a massive thanks to Asma and Sumaya. As a blogger I am lucky enough to attend a lot of different events, but this was one of the best – simply because these ladies are so funny! They are so down to earth and my jaw was literally hurting from laughter at the end of the breakfast. I will post pictures of my LTD outfit soon on my instagram so keep an eye out for that :)

Afternoon Tea at Sketch London

Recently I got to tick something of my bucket list and went for afternoon tea at Sketch London. Now for those of you who don’t know what Sketch London is (where have you been?!) it is a restaurant based in Mayfair London with a very quirky and unique atmosphere. The place is split into 3 separate areas, and has one of the funkiest rest rooms I have ever seen (but more on that and how I accidently ended up on the gents side of the loos later on!)

I’ll stick to talking about afternoon tea in this post, and if I ever get to go to Sketch again, I’ll let you know about the delights of the other rooms. Now to begin with, I was super excited because afternoon tea takes place in the Pink gallery room and if you’ve ever seen my instagram theme you know what a big fan of pink I am!

As soon as you get to the front entrance, the staff are there ready to greet you with a smile and warm welcome. They really go over and beyond to make you feel welcome. Once we got seated and comfortable at our table, I decided to pop to the ladies room (and took my camera with me - of course!). The rest room is surreal, it is so bright and white and then has a rainbow coloured ceiling, it’s a bit of a shock to the system when you first walk in as the afternoon tea gallery is very dimly lit, so the change in light is drastic. The actual toilet cubicles are shaped like egg pods which is pretty cool, what is not cool is that I took the left set of stairs and ended up in the mens side of the room and one of the staff members had to redirect me #awkward

As if that wasn’t awkward enough, I got back to my seat to see another member of staff talking to my sister about champagne and caviar, I politely told the lady we don’t drink alcohol and she took the trolley away. I then broke out in a fit of laughter, because not only do we not drink, but my sister is also allergic to sea food! She’s also allergic to nuts, and lentils, and mangoes… and this is something that I forgot to tell Sketch about before arrival, but they were very good in altering the menu and food to her needs.

After the initial awkward moments, the lovely Elani came over to introduce herself and be our host for the afternoon. She showed us the tea tray and talked us through the selection of teas and explained what the flavour of each one and what food it would best compliment - if you love tea then this is a must do experience for you! I loved the tea trolley and am really considering getting one for myself – I’m not huge on tea myself but being Pakistani and British, pretty much everyone I know loves tea!

The food was extremely filling, and surprisingly heavy. The sandwiches and desserts were different to any that I’ve had before and we really  had to pace ourselves. At no point did we feel rushed and we noticed that most of the other customers were there for at  least a couple of hours. The staff are extremely attentive, but do leave you alone for long periods of time to ensure you don’t feel rushed when eating your food.

Overall it was a really good afternoon and I am glad I took my sister to enjoy it with me - its probably something I would save for a special occasion such as a significant birthday or celebration as it is very pricey for what you get, but it is definitely worth going just for the experience.
